Radio Chemistry Facility

NCSCM has an Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) certified new state-of-the-art laboratory, dedicated to a wide range of very low level environmental radioactivity research and survey. This facility is routinely inspected AERB and a complete safety is maintained, for sensitive radioactivity research. Radioactivity measurement detectors (α, β, ρ) are housed in dedicated instrument rooms within the laboratory. To ensure low background radiation, facility is on the ground floor and a special concrete base has been created with low background radioactive material.

The prime mission of this facility is to quantify the radiation from natural radionuclides present in the environment and also to perform geochronological and biogeochemical studies using radionuclides as proxies.
